To Kill a Mockingbird took place in the 1930's.Although the 1930's is explained by history books, the novel made us feel more emotion towards the time period. The novel was told by Scout, who explained everything in detail, especially the trial. Which really helped us understand the racism that went on during that time period. We all enjoyed the novel because of the small objects that were used as symbolism. Throughout the book you'll see objects and sayings that will have a clear representation as events go on.
Also we enjoyed the novel because of the unique characters that were introduce to us. Such as Boo Radley. We felt that Boo Radley made us understand how stereotyped he was, and how not everything someone says is true. Boo isn't often shown in the novel but when he was mentioned it made us realize that after all he was trying to send a message to the readers by symbolism. To add on we enjoyed it also because of Atticus Finch who was different from the residents of Maycomb, and actually tried helping Tom Robinson.
Continuing, this novel is a great example of how racism problems were in the 1930's. The symbolism that the book shows is over the roof. It has a lot of foreshadowing that helps keep the novel flowing. It was a very adventurous book that represented the racism that was in the 1930's, and how whites were "better" than blacks. While showing this, through the book the main character stumbled through a handful of problems. In order to overcome them, the characters had to work together and defeat it. They also crossed paths with an enemy, but in order to find out what happened, read the book! I rate this book nine out of ten mockingbirds!
This novel was a way of explaining how racial problems were a big deal throughout the 1930's. It showed how some people disagreed with the rules of their society but were too scared to protest. This is a great book because it shows the view of the little girl Scout and how as she grows her points on the world chance. As time progressed she realizes the true identity of her small town of Maycomb and the people in it.
Although, this story takes places a long time from our era, it shows how far we've come from all racial accusations. It also shows what could happen if humanity keeps bringing themselves down and keeps hating and distrusting others. This book surrounds the story of how the innocent were found guilty, and how the kind were hurt. This novel not only shows what's in the past, but of how people could change the future as they did so many years ago. All in all, these characters bring you on a wonderful journey in which you'll have to read to find out what justice meant in the 1930's.
